Install the macOS that came with your Mac, or the closest version still available.
That should wait 10 seconds (change it to however long you need), and then take a screenshot. If you start the screensaver in the meantime, it will take a screenshot of that, and you can post it here.

it would be really cool if it could automatically update the screen capture periodically, so you could have it running but still be able to glance at the screen and see new messages or growl notifications. Is this something that could be possible?
well what this does is stops the screen saver checks the last time it was captured (otherwise it will just loop over and over) and takes the capture and resumes screensaver

True. I've just tried lotsaEscher 1.1 and it worked fine. No blank screen on actual screensaver mode, unlike it did on version 1.2. FYI, LotsaGlass 1.0 didn't work, though. Blank glass texture just as in version 1.1. Now I wonder what differences could there exist beteween LotsaEscher 1.1 and 1.2? :)

Even if you are not using iScreensaver software, there are a number of issues related to screensavers, security and the lock screen, and other features in macOS 10.13. Some of these were discovered by us, and for some credit is due elsewhere. We hope this list is a helpful starting point for anyone using, managing, or programming screensavers under macOS 10.13.
Security: The "Require password ____ minutes after sleep or screen saver begins" setting is functional when using iScreensaver. The options are (Never, Immediately, 5 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours, 8 hours). However, the "Immediately" setting does not work properly. If you are using this setting, the software will advise you to pick a longer delay.
3. Review LotsaWater files or folders, click Complete Uninstall button and then click Yes in the pup-up dialog box to confirm LotsaWater removal.
